N2 - The purpose of the present study is to investigate the interaction between two different tankers Aframax and KVLCC2 free to heave and pitch advancing in shallow-water with same speed and with a fixed separation distance using URANS simulation. The results are validated against EFD conducted in Flanders Hydraulics Research (FHR) towing tank. The present work will focus on the test cases that have the smallest under-keel clearance and water depth among all EFD cases (case A and B). Also, effects of longitudinal alignment of the ships are investigated for case B. For both cases A and B, the wave pattern, forces and moments, and motions are predicted and overall show fairly good agreement with experimental data. The simulations also reveal several influences of the ship-ship interactions such as the suction force and asymmetric ship wake. Also, it is found that the longitudinal alignment has significant impact on the yaw moment.
