In this article, the vibration behavior of a sandwich plate with piezomaterial is studied by the differential quadruatre method (DQM). The sandwich plate is constructed by two composite laminates and an aluminum core. A piezofilm is bonded to the laminates in each face. The classical laminated theory (CLT) is adopted. By applying the DQ formulation, the partial differential equations in spatial variables are transformed into a set of algebraic equations, from which results can easily be obtained. Both the voltage and displacement of the sandwich plate are considered in this study. Natural frequencies of simply supported sandwich plate are obtained and high accuracy is observed by comparing the analytical solutions with those obtained by other investigators. The shapes of modal voltage of the sandwich plate are obtained by modal analysis. Voltage response of the attached piezofilm in the sandwich plate is examined through a suddenly applied constant load at the center of the plate. Results obtained in this paper show that the DQM provides accurate results and successful implementation for analyses of sandwich structures.
