Vortex instability of inclined bouyant layer in porous media saturated with cold water

摘要

Vortex instability of buoyancy induced boundary layer flow adjacent to an inclined isothermal surface in porous media saturated with cold water is analyzed by a linear stability theory. The disturbance equation for the neutral stability is derived to include the effect of pressure and salinity in the absence of saline diffusion up to a maximum of 1000 bars and 40 p.p.t. (parts per thousand). It is found that the stability of the flow subject to the vortex mode of disturbance increases as the angle of inclination from the vertical decreases; and for pure water, the flow is less stable as the pressure increases.
