Wall heating effects in mixed convection in vertical annulus with variable properties

摘要

This paper concerns a numerical investigation of laminar, mixed convection in a concentric, circular annular duct. The inner and outer duct walls are maintained at uniform, equal dimensionless heat fluxes of q⁺ᵢw = q⁺ₒw = 5 or q⁺ₜw = q⁺ₒw, = 1. The thermophysical properties of the fluid vary with temperature. Results are presented for a Prandtl number of 0.7 for an annulus having a radius ratio of 0.25, using an implicit finite difference technique. It is shown that, at the lower wall heating rate, buoyancy can still enhance the local Nusselt number by as much as 30%.
