Whole-field automated measurement of photoelastic parameters using the two-load method

摘要

A two-load method for whole-field digital measurement of photoelastic parameters, isoclinic angle and total isochromatic fringe order, is presented. By using a plan polariscope, two sets of polarization-stepped fringe patterns under different load are used to calculate the isoclinic angles, and to compensate the influence of the isochromatic fringes on the isoclinic pattern. By using a circular polariscope, the method used allows for the determination of total fringe orders without knowing the zero-order fringes and the material fringe constant as needed in the two-wavelength method.
